Before you start: Insurance Plan Source is an independent comparison and referral service. No insurer wrote this site, no trade body endorsed it, and no regulator is involved. Every quote and every policy decision comes from an insurance company licensed in your own state.

Privacy Policy

What a submitted request contains, where it goes, how long it stays, and how to get it back or removed.

Revised September 2026

Insurance Plan Source ("we", "us") runs a comparison and referral service. This policy explains what happens to information you send us through this site. It is written in plain steps, because a privacy notice that cannot be followed is not much use to anybody.

1. What a request actually contains

The coverage request form on the home page asks for four things:

  • Your full name
  • A phone number
  • A five-digit ZIP code
  • The callback window you prefer

The contact form additionally asks for:

  • First and last name, and an email address
  • A phone number, if you choose to give one
  • The subject of your note and the note itself

2. Technical data we see automatically

Like almost any website, the server records an IP address, a browser identifier, and the time of a request in order to serve the page and to keep the service running. We do not use that information to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it.

3. Why we ask for it

  • To pass your request to parties authorised in your state
  • To contact you inside the callback window you chose
  • To keep a record so we can answer a follow-up question about the same request
  • To detect and refuse automated abuse of the form
  • To meet legal obligations that apply to a referral business

4. Where it goes

Submitted information is delivered to [email protected] and held in our own request log. From there it may be shared with:

  • Insurance companies and licensed producers who may quote on your request
  • Service providers who host or maintain our systems, under contract
  • A regulator, law enforcement, or a court, where the law requires it
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers or accountants, where we need advice

Those recipients run their own privacy practices, and once information has reached them we cannot delete it from their systems for you. We will say so if that is likely to happen in your case.

5. What we do not do with it

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing. We do not build advertising audiences from what you send us. We do not add you to a mailing list because you asked one question. Any onward payment arrangement is described in the referral disclosure.

6. How long we keep it

Request records are kept for as long as needed to deal with the request and to meet any record-keeping duty that applies, and then deleted or anonymised. As a working rule, that is a period of years rather than months, because a referral record is expected to be explainable later. Exact retention depends on the request and on the state it concerns.

7. Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may be able to:

  • Ask what we hold about you
  • Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
  • Ask for information to be deleted, where the law allows it
  • Object to how we process it
  • Receive a copy of it in a portable format

To use any of these, email [email protected] with the reference from your receipt, or call +1 877 838 5520 during Mon–Fri, 8:00am–6:00pm ET. We do not require you to explain yourself.

8. Cookies and similar files

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. A small amount of browser storage is used to remember that you have already seen the call notice, and to hold a security token while a form is open. Both are functional, both are limited to your browser, and neither follows you around the wider web. Disabling cookies will mean the call notice reappears and forms may need reloading.

9. Security

Information is submitted over an encrypted connection and stored in a restricted system. Every form carries a one-time token so that a request cannot be filed on your behalf by another site. No transmission method is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise; if a breach affects your information we will tell you and explain what we did.

10. Children

This site is for adults arranging their own cover. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child's details have reached us, write to us and we will remove them.

11. Third-party links

Pages here may link to a regulator's site, a rating agency, or a carrier. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for how they handle data. Read their own notices before you send anything to them.

12. State-specific rights

Residents of some states, including California, have specific rights to request the categories of information we hold, to request deletion, and to opt out of certain sharing. Send the request using the details in section 15 and we will respond within the period your state requires.

13. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we will update the revision date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use information already submitted, we will say so on this page rather than changing it quietly.

14. Referral model

A carrier may pay us a commission when a request becomes a placed policy. That payment is made by the carrier. It is not made by you, it does not change your premium, and it does not change what we are permitted to store. The full description is in the referral disclosure.

15. Contact this desk

Questions, corrections, and deletion requests all go to the same place.
