Advertising and Referral Disclosure
How this site earns money, which arrangements can affect what you see, and who actually decides your price.
Revised September 2026
Most insurance websites are funded by someone other than the visitor. This page says who, on what terms, and what that means for the order of what you read. It is written to be read before you use the form, not afterwards.
1. Our role
Insurance Plan Source is an independent comparison and referral service. Insurance risk is carried by somebody else: we take on no underwriting obligation, we issue no documents, and we administer no contract of our own. We organise what you need, introduce you to parties authorised in your state, and publish guidance you can check independently.
We are not a managing general agent, not a trade body, and not an accreditation scheme. We grant no accreditation and hold none.
2. How we are paid
We receive a commission from an insurance company when a request we introduced results in a policy being placed. Two consequences follow, and both matter:
- The commission is paid by the carrier out of its own budget. It is never added to your premium, and it does not appear on your quote.
- The commission is tied to volume. That can influence which carriers and which products we choose to show, which is why we publish the arrangement here rather than leaving you to infer it.
If a request does not become a policy, we are not paid. We will say so plainly rather than implying a partnership where none exists.
3. What you pay
Nothing, for using this site, for submitting a request, or for speaking with us. There is no subscription, no membership, and no fee to unlock a quote. Any premium you pay is set by the carrier, and the price you are quoted is the price you pay whether you found the policy through us or not.
4. Independence
We are not owned by, operated by, or exclusively tied to any single insurance company. We work with more than one carrier and we do not favour one by ownership. Where we mention a carrier by name, the name belongs to that company, and inclusion is not endorsement, sponsorship, or evidence of a commercial relationship. Some companies we name are ones we have no arrangement with at all.
5. Ordering and placement
Because commission is linked to what is placed, ordering can be influenced by commercial arrangements. We try to keep it honest in three specific ways:
- We do not describe a carrier as "best", "cheapest", or "top" for your situation. Nobody can honestly know that before your details are priced.
- Typical starting ranges on this site are labelled as illustrations, and they do not come from a single partner arrangement.
- We tell you which factors a carrier uses, so you can compare on the things that actually move the price.
6. Who decides what you pay
The carrier decides, and only the carrier. Pricing depends on the asset, the location, the coverage limits, the deductible, the claims history, and in some states credit information. State rules and each carrier's own underwriting guidelines shape the result.
We cannot override an underwriting decision, and nobody who claims otherwise on your behalf is telling you the truth. Figures on this site are illustrative ranges, not quotes, and a quote is not a contract until a carrier issues a policy.
7. A request creates no obligation
Submitting a form, or agreeing to be contacted, does not oblige you to buy anything and does not oblige us or any carrier to offer you anything. A contract exists only when a carrier issues a policy in your name.
8. Advertising rules
We intend our practices to follow applicable federal and state advertising rules, including the Federal Trade Commission's guides on endorsements and on the disclosure of material connections. Where a commercial relationship could reasonably affect a consumer's judgement, we describe it here rather than leaving it implied.
9. Our partner relationships change
Carriers add and drop products, and commercial terms change. When that happens, this page is updated. The version you are reading carries the revision date at the top, which is the version that applied when you used the site.
10. Reading the policy is still your job
We can help you compare and route. We cannot read the contract for you. Before you buy, check the limits, the deductibles, the exclusions, the claims-notification window, and the renewal terms in the actual policy wording, and ask about anything that is not clear.
11. Questions
If any of this is unclear, ask before you submit anything.

The short version
- • A carrier may pay us a commission when a request becomes a policy. You never pay us.
- • That commission is volume-linked, so it can affect what we choose to show.
- • We are independent of any single carrier, and naming one is not an endorsement.
- • The carrier sets the price, decides eligibility, and issues the policy. Not us.
- • Nothing on this site is a quote, and submitting a form commits nobody to anything.
- • We are not a carrier, a managing general agent, or an accredited reviewer, and we do not claim to be.
