Before you start: Insurance Plan Source is an independent comparison and referral service. No insurer wrote this site, no trade body endorsed it, and no regulator is involved. Every quote and every policy decision comes from an insurance company licensed in your own state.

Questions We Get Before Every Quote

Short answers about cost, timing, verification, and what actually happens to your details.

What do you actually sell?

Nothing, in the sense that matters here. We are a comparison and referral service. Risk is carried elsewhere: we take no underwriting responsibility, we issue no documents, and we service no contract. What we do is organise your question, route it to parties authorised where your risk sits, and make sure you can see the evidence behind any figure you are shown.

Which lines can I request?

Auto, home, renters, property, business, pet, travel, and umbrella liability. Each one is described in full on the coverage lines page, including what a carrier usually asks you for and which part of the policy to read first. If your situation sits between two lines, tell us and we will say so rather than guess.

Does a request cost anything?

No, and there is no obligation attached to anything on this site. A carrier may pay us a commission if a request becomes a placed policy. That payment comes from the carrier and never changes the premium you are quoted. The full arrangement is set out in our referral disclosure.

How long until I hear back?

Allow one business day inside the callback window you selected. If nothing has arrived after two business days, call +1 877 838 5520 and quote the reference from your receipt. Slow replies are usually carrier backlog rather than a lost request.

What do you need from me?

The homepage form asks for four things: a name, a phone number, a five-digit ZIP code, and the window that suits you. That is enough to route the request. A carrier may then ask for more detail, and that conversation happens with them, not with us.

Are you licensed? Can I check?

You can and should check. We do not publish a table of state licence numbers because we will not print a number we cannot evidence, and we do not claim authority in every state. Our licensing page explains what we do claim and walks you through the regulator search step by step. The companion guide explains how to read whatever the regulator returns.

Where do my details go?

To [email protected], and onward to the parties we introduce you to for that specific request. We log what you sent, when, and under which reference. The privacy policy sets out the full list of what is collected, who receives it, and how to ask for a copy or a deletion.

I already have a policy. Can you help?

We can explain what a document says and point you at the right desk, but we cannot amend, cancel, or replace a policy. That authority sits with the carrier named on the declaration page. Send us the carrier name and the effective date and we will tell you who to call.

Something has happened and I need to claim

Go straight to the carrier. The claims phone number and the online claim path are printed on your policy documents, and using them is faster than routing through a referral desk. Tell us which carrier and we will point you at the right public contact page.

Two quotes, different prices. Which is the better deal?

Neither, until they are lined up. Compare the same liability limit, the same deductible, the same replacement-cost basis, and the same exclusions. A cheaper price with a lower limit is not a better deal, it is a different product. If you send us both, we will tell you where they genuinely differ.

Do the carrier names on your site mean anything?

Only that you may recognise them. Those names belong to the companies that use them. We list them for orientation, with no endorsement and no claim of a commercial relationship. Some carriers write in every state, some in a handful, and the deciding factor is always your state rather than our page.

What decides the price?

For a vehicle: drivers, use, vehicle value, and claims history. For a building: rebuild cost, construction, location, and protection systems. For a business: revenue, operations, and the claims of the trade. Credit information is used only where the law allows. A carrier publishes its own rating factors, and it is worth asking for them.

Bundling is mentioned a lot. Is it worth it?

Sometimes, and the saving is usually a discount rather than a lower base rate. Check whether the bundle requires moving all policies to one carrier before you assume it works for you. If it does not, the discount is not available to you at any price.

Can I get a copy of what I sent?

Yes. Email [email protected] with the reference from your receipt, or call +1 877 838 5520 during Mon–Fri, 8:00am–6:00pm ET. We keep request records for a limited period and then delete them, as described in the privacy policy.

When is the desk open?

Mon–Fri, 8:00am–6:00pm ET. A submitted request is not a phone call, so the form never closes; the callback window you choose decides when somebody reaches out. The office is at 400 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
